The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals marked an important moment in its annual calendar with the installation of Wes Harper as Master, at a ceremony and luncheon held at the magnificent Drapers’ Hall in the City of London.

The occasion brought together members of the Company, representatives from across the security profession, the City of London and the wider Livery movement, alongside family, friends and distinguished guests.

Among those attending were Alderwoman Dame Susan Langley DBE, Lady Mayor of the City of London, and Pete O’Doherty, Commissioner of the City of London Police, reflecting the Company’s close relationship with the City and its commitment to supporting the wider security profession.

The Installation also provided an opportunity to welcome new members into the Company. During the ceremonies, nine new Liverymen were clothed and sixteen new Freemen admitted, strengthening the Company’s growing community of security professionals.

Two distinguished Honorary Freemen were also admitted: Mr Gary Langley JP, the Mayoral Consort and Air Commodore Paul Hamilton MBE ADC MA RAF, Commandant General of the RAF Regiment.

Speaking following his installation, the new Master, Wes Harper outlined his priorities for the year ahead:

“It is a tremendous honour to serve as Master of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals. During my year, I want to build on the excellent work of those who have gone before me while strengthening our relationships across the security profession and the City.”

“My priorities include working closely with the City of London Police, raising the profile of the Company across the wider security industry and building stronger bridges with the commercial security sector.”

At the heart of this will remain the values that make our Company special: professional excellence, fellowship, charitable endeavour and support for those who serve and protect others.

The Master also paid tribute to the Immediate Past Master, Wardens, Court and Clerks  of the Company, thanking them for their work and support in making the Installation such a memorable occasion.

His year will be guided by the theme Professional Excellence – Honouring tradition, shaping the future, reflecting both the Company’s heritage within the City of London and its role in supporting the continuing development and professionalisation of the modern security sector.
