Founders’ Service – The Chapel Royal, St James’ Palace
On Thursday 19 February the Master, IPM, Wardens and members of the Company gathered at The Chapel Royal, St James’ Palace, for our annual Founders’ Day Church Service. Sub Dean The Reverand Canon Paul Wright LVO and The Reverand Canon Roger Hall LVO MBE led the Homily and Prayers and the Director of Music was Tim Horton.
The choir sang beautifully. I read the First Lesson from Jerimiah Chapter 2, verses 14-32 and one of our Founders, and Honorary Liveryman and Past Master, John Purnell GM QPM DL read the second Lesson from John Chapter 4, verses 1-39. I also read the Memorial Roll of members who have died since the Guild was formed and asked that we remember members’ loved ones who have recently passed away. Always a poignant part of the Service.
Our sincere thanks to The Chapel Royal at St James’ Palace for hosting us again this year as our own Chapel, The Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula, is currently closed due to ongoing renovation works.
Sue Jones,
Master
