We are pleased to announce the Annual Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Dinner which is to be held at The Army and Navy Club in Pall Mall. This year, the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, Dame Lynne Owens will be our guest speaker.
Dame Owens took up the post of Deputy Commissioner in September 2022 and has overall responsibility for the day to day safety of the capital city. She first joined the Metropolitan Police Service in 1989 and held a number of roles in Surrey Police and the Metropolitan Police Service prior to her appointment as Chief Constable of Surrey Police in 2012. Dame Owens became the Director General of the National Crime Agency in 2016 and was a member of the Government’s National Security Council and chaired the National Strategic Tasking & Co-ordination Group.
Dame Owens was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in 2008 and a CBE for services to policing and criminal justice in 2015. She was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the Bath (DCB) in 2020 for being an exemplary law enforcement system leader. In February 2023, she was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey.
During the evening, the Deputy Commissioner will give a talk under the Chatham House Rule and there will be an opportunity to ask her some questions.
