The Master’s Update
Bishop of London’s Farewell Reception, Guildhall – Wednesday 7 January
The New Year has begun and I wish you all a very happy, healthy and successful 2026. My first event of the year began with the Bishop of London’s Farewell Reception at Guildhall on Wednesday 7 January, attended by the Lady Mayor. The Right Reverend and Right Honourable Dame Sarah Mullally DBE has served as the (133rd) Bishop of London since 2018, following a distinguished career in nursing, public service and Ministry. She was the first woman to hold the office of Bishop of London. Dame Sarah will also become the first woman to serve as Archbishop of Canterbury and we, in the Security Professionals, wish her well as she prepares for this historic new role.

City New Year Service, St Michael’s Cornhill – Friday 9 January
This Service takes place every year in January. The Lady Mayor, her Consort, the Sheriffs and their Consorts joined, amongst others, Masters, Consorts and Clerks of Livery Companies for the City New Year Service at St Michael’s Cornhill. I attended along with my Consort, Chris, and Adrienne, our Clerk. After a 45-minute delightful Service we walked briskly to the magnificent Drapers’ Hall (where we hold our annual Installation Court and Lunch) for a most enjoyable buffet lunch.
