The Master’s Update

Lady Mayoress’ Reception, Mansion House, Thursday 9 October

Along with other Livery Masters, members of the Military and guests from a wide variety of organisations with which the Lady Mayoress has been associated with during the last year, I attended a ‘Thank You’ Reception at Mansion House on Thursday 9 October.  The Lady Mayoress, who is also an active Reservist in the British Army, hosted and we all enjoyed her thoughtful and engaging speech.  Being in Mansion House is always a special occasion and it was also good to meet up with one of our Company members, Victor, who works there.

Worshipful Company of Firefighters’ St Florian’s Banquet, Innholders Hall, Friday 10 October

I was invited as a guest to attend the Worshipful Company of Firefighters’ annual Banquet on 10 October.  A wonderful event in the lovely Innholders’ Hall, with delicious food and wines.  I also enjoyed meeting up again with their IPM, David Holt, who joined us at my Installation Lunch in June.

Fish Harvest Festival Service, Sunday 12 October 2025

An early start for a Sunday but thankfully the trains ran on time for me to attend the 2025 Fish Harvest Festival Service at St Mary-at-Hill Church.  During the Service the congregation come together to give thanks and pray for the fishing industry.  Fresh fish was on display, which had been generously donated by Billingsgate Market, and after the Service it was available to take home in return for a donation.  Any remaining fish is given to Queen Victoria Seafarers’ Rest in Poplar.
