Blesma event and talk by Mark Ormrod MBE – Thursday 25 September
The Junior Warden and I were invited by Vivienne Buck, formerly the Provost-Marshal(Army) and a Freeman of the WCoSP, to attend a talk by Mark Ormrod MBE at a Blesma event on HMS BELFAST on 25 September. Blesma supports limbless and injured veterans to live independent and fulfilling lives. Mark was the first triple amputee to survive when he lost both legs and his right arm when he stepped on an IED in Afghanistan on Christmas Eve 2007. Mark’s account of his career, the IED incident and his journey since was, to be honest, completely amazing and so inspiring. It was a huge honour to meet Mark, as well as members of Blesma, a charity I shall certainly support as Master and beyond.
