I was both honoured and delighted to be invited to our Beadle’s Freedom of London…

Big Curry Lunch at Gratte Brothers
On Thursday 10 July, and on one of the hottest days of the year, Gratte Brothers, for the 15th time, hosted our Company’s Big Curry Lunch in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF), The Soldiers’ Charity.
It was wonderful that so many members from the wider security industry were present to help raise funds to provide a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families. Since its inaugural event in 2009, this Lunch has impressively raised well in excess of £25,000 for this very worthy cause.

This Big Curry Lunch started when we were asked years ago as a Livery Company to support and contribute to the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch for the ABF, which is also hosted annually – and which I attended for the first time in April at Guildhall.
The curry was, as always, excellent and I know that guests marvelled at the first-class service and delicious food. After my short speech I was delighted to present gifts to those members and staff in Gratte Bros who made it all possible.
A huge thank you to Mike Rousell and Gratte Bros for another marvellous occasion which supports the ABF, The Soldiers’ Charity. If you haven’t been to this excellent Lunch, I would encourage you to do so next year!
Sue Jones,
Master
