DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to confirm that we will be holding the annual Curry Networking evening on Thursday\, 18th September in the Mess and Bar at 3MI’s London HQ in Worship Street. Curry\, beer or wine\, and great company! This is a relatively informal event that is intended to create an opportunity for Apprentices and Apprentice Masters to meet and network while learning something about the history and development of the Company and the City of London. \nFor 2025 we are delighted to welcome Matt Jukes QPM\, Deputy\nCommissioner\, Metropolitan Police Service\, as our guest speaker. Matt started his police career in South Yorkshire Police as a uniformed and detective officer\, working his way to Chief Superintendent as a Borough Commander. After further senior roles in South Wales police\, he joined the Met in 2020 initially leading on transformation and later becoming Head of UK Counter\nTerrorism Policing. He became Deputy Commissioner earlier this year. We look forward to hearing about his career\, the challenges the Met faces and he has indicated that he is willing to take questions. \nThis event will follow the format of the successful events held in previous years. Arrival at 18:30 with drinks from the bar\, then Karen Dobson providing the catering which will be her special Curry (Meat\, Vegetarian and Vegan options) at around 19:00. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce details of this year’s dinner with the City of London Police Commissioner\, Pete O’Doherty. The dinner will provide an excellent opportunity to meet the Commissioner\, hear of his plans and challenges and ask questions (strictly under the Chatham House Rule). \nFor 2025\, the City of London Police Commissioner’s Dinner will be held at Barber-Surgeons’ Hall but remains our annual fundraiser for the WCoSP Charitable Trust. \nCommissioner Pete O’Doherty\nAfter graduating from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science\, Pete started his career with the CoLP and was\, later in his service\, seconded into the Metropolitan Police Service as the Superintendent\, Head of Uniformed Operations at the London Borough of Newham. In 2017\, Pete returned to the CoLP as Detective Chief Superintendent\, Head of Crime and Counter Terrorism and in 2019\, took up post as Assistant Chief Constable at Thames Valley Police . \nIn January 2022\, Pete returned to the CoLP as Assistant Commissioner and in October 2023\, Pete took on the role of Temporary Commissioner of the City of London Police\, performing the role as the National Police Lead for Cyber and Economic Crime. SUMMARY:Ceremony of the Keys
DESCRIPTION:The Ceremony of the Keys is the traditional locking up of the Tower of London and has taken place on each and every night\, without fail\, for at least 700 years. \nAttendees will be given a guided tour of the Tower\, followed by drinks (pay bar) at the Yeoman Warders Club\, also known as The Keys. Visitors will be admitted to the Tower under escort at 7.20pm. Late arrivals will not be admitted. Shortly before 10pm\, attendees will be ushered outside for a briefing\, before watching the Ceremony of the Keys. After the ceremony\, attendees have the option to leave the tower\, or return to The Keys until close at 11pm. \nThe dress code for this visit is Business Dress\, strictly no jeans or trainers. Anyone arriving at the Tower incorrectly dressed will be denied entry. Any individuals who wish to wear any form of uniform\, must obtain permission from the Chief Yeoman Warder. No visitor under the age of 18 is permitted access to the Yeoman Warders Club. Those aged between 18 to 25 years must bring proof of age. The Club operates a ‘cash only’ bar and there are no cashpoint machines inside the walls of the Tower. There is a ‘no movement’ policy in the Tower between 9.30pm and 10.05pm. If any attendee needs to leave early\, then they must be clear of the grounds by no later than 9.20pm. \nAccessibility – some visitors may require additional access arrangements as the historic building features difficult stairs\, a number of low doorways\, and passageways where wheelchair access is restricted. DESCRIPTION:We are very privileged that by the kind permission of the Constable of the Tower\, General Sir Gordon Messenger and the Governor\, Brigadier Andrew Jackson\, and through the good offices of our Honorary Chaplain\, the Revd Canon Roger Hall\, our Carol Service will again this year be held in the atmospheric Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula\, within the walls of HM Tower of London. \nThe Master\, Wardens and Court invite you to join them at the service\, with readings from members of the Company and Carols led by the Chapel Choir under the leadership of the Master of Music\, Colm Carey. \nThe Service will start at 6.00pm\, entry to the Chapel will be from 5.45pm (please note this is 30 minutes earlier than previous years). \nDue to the popularity of the service\, places will be limited to 4 per member. \nWhilst there is no charge for attending the service\, a donation of £10 per head will be collected and passed directly to the Chapel. \nWith special thanks to Bidvest Noonan for their support

DESCRIPTION:We are very pleased to announce that we have been able to arrange another exclusive visit to the College of Arms with The Somerset Herald\, Mark Scott MA (Oxford)\, Supported by William Hunt TD BA FCA. Mark was appointed on 12th April 2024 having previously held the Office of Bluemantle Pursuivant of Arms. \nMark is the 32nd holder of the office\, which was created by King Henry VII at the time of his Coronation in October 1485\, and whose badge\, approved by Queen Elizabeth II in 1959\, is a Portcullis Or royally crowned\, the Tudor version of the Beaufort badge. \nWilliam served as Windsor Herald of Arms in Ordinary at the College of Arms in London from 1999 to 2017 and is currently a Research Assistant to John Petrie\, the current Windsor Herald. William was heavily involved in the design of our Crest as we progressed from being a Guild to a full Worshipful Company. \nThere is a strict limit on the size of a group visiting the College of 20 people.  As such the event is limited to two tickets per Member. The cost of a ticket is £75 Inc VAT which includes the tour\, wine and buffet supper. \nTickets are strictly limited to two per Member and Members who have attended a recent visit to the College are not eligible to attend this visit. Tickets will go on sale via the website events page at 9am on Monday 28th April 2025. Please book via the website as the Clerk will not have any additional tickets for this event. Tickets are likely to be booked extremely quickly as this is a very popular event. \nThe format of the visit will be as follows; the arrival time for the tour is 6.00pm for a 6.15pm start. \nMark will welcome the group in the Earl Marshal’s Court. William will then initially speak about the history of heraldry and the role of the heralds\, a little about the architecture of the building and how the Heralds run their practices. \nThe group then retires to a meeting room where the visitors are provided with a glass of wine\, or soft drink\, to allow the group to sit down while they talk about the architecture of the building. \nThe group will spend a spend a good hour in the record room being shown a selection of records dating back to the fourteenth century by Mark which will include the original documentation of the Company Crest which William will explain the creation of. \nThe group will then retire to the meeting room for another glass of wine (or two) with a buffet spread including hot dishes\, cold meats and fish\, pasta and salad\, followed by cheese\, fruit and a mini-sweet. \nThe talk is generally finished around 8.15pm. The departure time is after 9pm and the building needs to be vacated by 9.30pm. \nAccess Statement: The College of Arms is an old building and the access is via steps but once in the building the rooms for the visit are on all the same level. The toilets are however up several flights of stairs. Access will only be given to those on the pre-validated attendee list. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the Annual Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Dinner which is to be held at The Army and Navy Club in Pall Mall. This year\, the Deputy Commissioner of the Police of the Metropolis\, Matt Jukes QPM will be our guest speaker. \nDeputy Commissioner Jukes joined policing in 1995 as a constable with South Yorkshire Police. He worked in a variety of other roles\, working his way up to the position of Chief Superintendent\, Borough Commander. \nHe joined South Wales Police in 2010 as an Assistant Chief Constable leading on Specialist Crime and served as Deputy Chief Constable before being appointed Chief Constable in January 2018. He was awarded the Queen’s Policing Medal in that year’s Honours. \nIn November 2020 he joined the Met as Assistant Commissioner\, moving to the post of Head of UK Counter Terrorism Policing and the Met’s Assistant Commissioner for Specialist Operations (ACSO) in July 2021. \nHis 30-year career has been split between periods in specialist areas of policing\, and others at the heart of local policing\, delivering for communities and supporting frontline colleagues\, including a focus on their wellbeing. He is a former Chair\, and now Vice Chair\, of Police Sport UK\, and a Patron of the Police Roll of Honour Trust. \nHe became acting Deputy Commissioner in May 2025. \nDuring the evening\, the Deputy Commissioner will give a talk under the Chatham House Rule and there will be an opportunity to ask him questions. \nTimings and dress code;\nReception 6.30 pm\nDinner 7.00 pm\nCarriages 10.00 pm \nDress Code:\nSmart business attire. DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that once again Gratte Brothers has very kindly agreed to host the WCoSP Big Curry Lunch on Thursday\, 9th July 2026 as our contribution to the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch for the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF). \nTickets for the Curry Lunch are £39 (inc. VAT)\, with the funds generated from the event being donated directly to the Soldiers Charity. The lunch will be hosted by Gratte Brothers at their offices at 2 Regents Wharf\, All Saints Street\, London\, N1 9RL. Arrival time no earlier than 1.30pm for the lunch at 1.45pm. \n
