DESCRIPTION:We are very pleased to announce that an exclusive visit to the College of Arms has been arranged by William Hunt TD BA FCA\, supported by Mark Scott MA (Oxford)\, Bluemantle Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary  on Tuesday\, 23rd January 2024. William served as Windsor Herald of Arms in Ordinary at the College of Arms in London from 1999 to 2017 and is currently a Research Assistant to John Petrie\, the current Windsor Herald. William is a Liveryman and Past Master (2000–2001) of the Playing-Card Makers’ Company. William was heavily involved in the design of our Crest as we progressed from being a Guild to a full Worshipful Company. \nThere is a strict limit on the size of a group visiting the College of 20 people.  As such the event is limited to two tickets per Member. The cost of a ticket is £60 Inc VAT which includes the tour\, wine and buffet supper. \nThe format of the visit will be as follows; \nThe arrival time for the tour is 6.00pm for a 6.15pm start. William will then speak about the history of heraldry and the role of the heralds\, a little about the architecture of the building and how the Heralds run their practices. The group will spend a good hour in the record room being shown a selection of records dating back to the fourteenth century by William and Mark which will include the original documentation of the Company Crest. \nThe group then retires to a meeting room where the visitors are provided with a glass of wine\, or soft drink\, to allow the group to sit down while they talk about the architecture of the building. There is then another glass of wine (or two) with a buffet spread including hot dishes\, cold meats and fish\, pasta and salad\, followed by cheese\, fruit and a mini-sweet. \nThe talk is generally finished around 8.15pm. The departure time is after 9pm and the building needs to be vacated by 9.30pm. \nDress code is Smart Casual. Access will only be given to those on the pre-validated list of. Please bring Government issued Photo ID.  \n**to help with event planning please can you confirm any dietary requirements when booking.

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce Ken McCallum\, the Director General of MI5 as the speaker at this year’s Lord Imbert Security Lecture. \nKen McCallum is the current Director General of MI5 and is the eighteenth Director General since the post was created in 1909. He was appointed in April 2020. \nKen McCallum is an MI5 officer with almost 25 years of experience across the full spectrum of the organisation’s national security and intelligence work. His first ten years was focussed on Northern Ireland-related terrorism. Senior operational roles in countering Islamist extremist terrorism followed\, and a period leading on cyber security\, where he expanded MI5 engagement with the private sector. \nIn 2012\, Ken took charge of all counter terrorism investigations and risk management in the run-up to\, and during\, the London Olympics. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the Annual Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Dinner which is to be held at The Army and Navy Club in Pall Mall. This year\, the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service\, Dame Lynne Owens will be our guest speaker. \nDame Owens took up the post of Deputy Commissioner in September 2022 and has overall responsibility for the day to day safety of the capital city. She first joined the Metropolitan Police Service in 1989 and held a number of roles in Surrey Police and the Metropolitan Police Service prior to her appointment as Chief Constable of Surrey Police in 2012. Dame Owens became the Director General of the National Crime Agency in 2016 and was a member of the Government’s National Security Council and chaired the National Strategic Tasking & Co-ordination Group. \nDame Owens was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in 2008 and a CBE for services to policing and criminal justice in 2015. She was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the Bath (DCB) in 2020 for being an exemplary law enforcement system leader. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce that a special visit to Armoury House\, the Headquarters of the Honourable Artillery Company\, has been arranged for Thursday\, 4th July 2024. \nArmoury House was built and furnished in 1735. The Grade II listed building\, situated in the heart of the City of London\, was designed by Thomas Stibbs and houses a collection of the finest historical artefacts and treasures from the regiment’s history. \nThe arrival time for the visit is 5pm for a 5.30pm start. The event will be held in the Medal Room and after a presentation on the history of the HAC there will be an opportunity to visit to the regimental museum. The function will finish with a drinks reception when wine and canapés will be served. It will be an ideal opportunity to bring a guest. \nThe cost of a ticket is £45. DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that once again Gratte Brothers have very kindly agreed to host the WCoSP Big Curry Lunch on Thursday\, 18th July 2024 as our contribution to the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch for the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF). \nTickets for the Curry Lunch are £35 (inc. VAT)\, with the funds generated from the event being donated directly to the Soldiers Charity. \nThe lunch will be hosted by Gratte Brothers at their offices at 2 Regents Wharf\, All Saints Street\, London\, N1 9RL. Arrival time no earlier than 1.30pm for the lunch at 1.45pm.
