The Company's Bye Laws and Ordinances lay down the following requirements.

 

Bye Laws

Any persons shall be eligible to be nominated and elected to the Membership of the Company provided that they are, or have been, a security practitioner by profession or a person adjudged by the Court to have a strong interest in the Objects of the Company as the Court shall decide in its absolute discretion. Membership shall be regarded as merely a preparatory stage to admission as a Freeman of the Company and Members shall have no rights and privileges other than participating in events and functions organised by the Company.

  Becomming a Liveryman

Ordinances

With the exception of Apprentices, and those persons granted Honorary or Companion status, no person will be accepted as a member unless:

    1. They satisfy the requirement for Membership of the Company as laid down in Article 2 of the Bye-Laws.
    2. They are of the full age of twenty-one years,
    3. They have applied in writing for membership, using a form prescribed by the Court,
    4. They have agreed to be bound by the Charter, Bye-Laws and Ordinances of the Company,
    5. They have paid an appropriate joining fee.
    6. Their application has been proposed and seconded by a Liveryman, a Freeman or a Member of the Company, in writing, and
    7. Their application has been considered and approved by the Membership Committee and recognised by the Court."
